FRANCE, 1977

Born in Paris, Bruce belongs to the second generation of graffiti artists. His foray into the world of urban art began in 1993, initially focusing on tagging. By 1995, Bruce had expanded his repertoire by painting trains in the Paris metro, creating works that included entire carriages, covering their entire surface, as well as panels and other stylistic configurations in various locations across Europe. While these are “spontaneous” works executed quickly, much like a sport, since the time available before the train departs is very limited, this is reflected in his artistic production through the representation of sports balls.

His graffiti style translates into studio works, where he combines acrylics and oil paints with his characteristic spray cans. Together, they create a flat yet colorful and playful style. The characteristics of his work manifest through precise lines and effective simplicity, allowing him to brilliantly combine both figurative and abstract elements, simultaneously reflecting a strong visual impact. Furthermore, Bruce is recognized for his numerous collaborations with artist Mina, with whom he creates graffiti works that are unique, vibrant, and infused with humor, addressing a wide range of contemporary cultural themes.

Since 2022, David has been a residence artist at Nike, while simultaneously exhibiting in various cities across Europe. Although his work translates well into murals and urban fashion, the beauty is truly emphasized in the canvases. David Bruce has also explored other mediums, including sculpture, showcasing his creative versatility as an artist. Currently, Bruce resides and works in the Belgian city of Liège, continuing his contribution to the realm of graffiti and urban art.
