Siro
Santiago (Chile), 1974
Always attracted by the tiny worlds, the intricacies of the mechanical and the organic, it is in drawing where Siro finds mainly and from a very young age, his means of expression. This led him to study fine arts in order to experiment in his search and train his gaze through different media such as painting, drawing, engraving and audiovisual. He currently lives in Spain and combines his work between plastic and audiovisual creation.
He has been selected and awarded in several painting and video-creation contests and has participated in collective and individual exhibitions such as “Fenocopias” in Espacio Bop, Lorenzo Alonso; “Le fil d'un fils qui coud son arbre”, Colegio de España, Paris; “Epigénesis” C.C. Galileo, Madrid. My work arises from a deep fascination for how, from where, in what way the living emerges.
The mystery of life, a mystery that always leads me to investigate something that is beyond our understanding, to delight me with the ineffable and the surprising moment when that which transcends our gaze becomes present, becomes matter, body and flesh. This work with drawing and painting has made a journey from the inside of the skin, the visceral and anatomical in my initial series “Anatomies” and then in “Phenocopies”, to my most recent work “Epigenesis”, where my interest is focused on investigating how would be the subtle and essential structures and mechanics that make up our nature.
