JAIME URDIALES
CÁCERES (SPAIN), 1994
Jaime Urdiales was born in Spain in 1994 and currently works and lives in London. He grew up in a small village surrounded by mountains (Losar De la Vera).
The tranquillity of his early life in the countryside and his passion for cinema made him idealise the lifestyle presented by classic Hollywood cinema. When he was 18 he moved to Madrid to study fine arts at the Universidad Rey Juan Carlos (2018) and also began to travel the world.
He soon began to develop a deep appreciation for human interaction and the complexity of the urban life he had embraced. The city that will most mark his work is Miami and the feeling most present in his painting is nostalgia. The development of his themes is strongly influenced by irony and a sense of humour.
Jaime Urdiales is an artist who has captivated the contemporary art scene with his unique approach and passion for rescuing the past through his depictions of neon signs and abandoned signs. His work is a reflection of his desire to preserve the visual history of urban streets and to highlight the ephemeral beauty of objects that go unnoticed in everyday life.
Through his art, Urdiales manages to transform the ordinary into the extraordinary. Each of his neon signs and forgotten signs become an ode to nostalgia and the vibrant energy of cities. His works transport us to a time and place where these flashing lights and glowing letters were iconic elements of urban life.
From his beginnings to date, Jaime's work has been exhibited in the United States, Europe and Asia.
